Seniors

At Hope Ministries, we also provide a home for the elderly through our ministry, Worthie’s Way.

James 1:27 says, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to sit with orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

Worthie’s Way was formed to bring value to the life of seniors by giving them an opportunity to share their wisdom, knowledge, experience, abilities, and skills to strengthen and serve Hope’s community. It is an inclusive program that gives seniors the opportunity to live in a multigenerational community while making a real difference in their daily life by pouring into Hope moms and their children on a regular basis. We believe that, by adding value to the seniors, it will not only lengthen her life, but it will improve the quality of her life as well.

If you are interested in applying for our Seniors Program or would like additional information, please email info@hopeofnet.org or call (903)305-9098.

Worthie’s Way was named in memory of a dearly loved community leader and friend, Worthie Witherspoon, wife of Richard Witherspoon, who graduated to heaven on February 13, 2016.

A Letter from Judy Capps

Honor and Value from Conception to the Tomb

In the Ten Commandments we see:“Honor your father and mother”which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

As we see a large part of our population aging, we must ask ourselves as believers, “Are we doing this? What does honor look like for the aging? If God’s creation, people, for which He gave it all, are honored and valued in His eyes, what is our call? Nursing homes are not necessarily the answer for all Christian seniors that want meaning in life.  Statistically, some seniors in nursing homes suffer from depression and feel their lives may have lost purpose at the end.

The Blue Zone, a book about the secrets to living healthy vibrant lives into the 90-100's, gives us clues to this life. One key is living in a family-like community with people of all ages. Another is having purpose for their lives until the very end, such as caring for younger children, praying, cooking for the family, having fellowship with friends, and teaching skill sets such as sewing or music.

If God loves family so much that He commanded us to love and honor mothers and fathers, as Christians, we ought to be the best at doing it, right?

As God’s spiritual sons and daughters, we will obey this command at Hope Ministries and welcome in our supernatural parents.

Worthie’s Way receives the Christian senior widow who longs to have purpose for her life. We honor and value what she brings to the Hope family and long to care for her and serve her while she releases her value to the multi generations living at Hope. The truth is, we NEED her! Studies show that, when living in a family-like community, all generations involved thrive and have a greater chance of success. Children get great-grandparents and single moms get a grandmother. It is a beautiful blessing for us all.

Family was God’s idea. So, we know it is GOOD. His precious treasures—people—have value. Jesus gave all He had for them. He fights as the defender for their honor and value from the unborn in the womb to the senior. The question is…will WE?

Come be part of something Kingdom-minded…apply to live, apply to serve, pray, and give!

Blessings,
Judy
